One of the funniest movie scenes that I can remember is when Steve Martin in "The Jerk" got his new phone book and went jumping around the fillin' station shouting "The Phone Book's Here! The Phone Book's Here!." (This is, of course, closely followed by Marty Feldman's "Abbie Normal" comment in Young Frankenstein!)
For several of the people involved with the writing and testing of the rules, the release of Secrets of the Third Reich was a welcome event. The book is very nicely done and a credit to Andy and Wendy Cooper, John and Jim Bailey, and those who contributed on the fora. I am painting away on several of the SOTR miniatures I have - Mecha, Soviet Survivors, French Resistance and German Fallschirmjaeger to name a few. The Soviets will have armor support and probably be well over the normal 50 RP once I finish them. The Resistance will be used for raids you will see in forthcoming issues, and the Fallschirmjaeger in a conventional role using these rules. So what do you get in the rules for your money? A tad over 160 pages of book with black and white pictures, illustrations, and posters scattered throughout, fourteen pages of color goodness showing miniatures from all of the nationalities in the current SOTR universe (with more on the way), pages of Orders of Battle to allow you to build and modify your platoon-sized elements as you desire and scenarios that will allow you to get started quickly. Warpath Games is the US distributor so have your local store contact them to stock SOTR. The pictures below are representative pages from the book showing rules, OoBs, and a portion of the color section. Enjoy!!!
